Distribution Supervisor

Southeast
US Air Force, O-3

I was a Logistics Readiness Officer when I separated from the U.S. Air Force in April 2008. I actually started terminal leave in February, though, and had been actively searching for a new career since December 2007. I began to work with Orion International while working with other recruiting firms. While one firm provided a lot of interviews, they were rarely even the remotest match to my profile. The other firm was disappointing in that they only offered me one interview for each conference I was involved in, and the interview was not a match to my preferences either.

Considering I was an overseas candidate assigned to Korea during the job search process, Orion and Rob Gumpper took great care of me. Even with 7,000 miles between us, Rob was able to get a great idea of the type of position I wanted. Rob was very patient with me from the start. I was unable to attend several Atlanta conferences due to prior commitments. Despite this setback, Rob stayed engaged with me and kept me in the loop on opportunities that would interest me.

Once I was available for an Atlanta hiring conference, Rob went all out to prove that Orion was better than the competition. Before the Orion conference, I had attended other firms’ conferences. Each paired me with companies that were in the manufacturing industry and not in the logistics industry in which I wanted to work.

When I got to the Orion conference in Atlanta, each job opportunity was of exceptional quality. My first interview was with Pier 1 Imports for a distribution center supervisor role. The position fit me like a glove, and the chemistry that I had with the interviewers was like magic. It was a feeling that I have never experienced with any other interview before. I remember thanking Rob after my first interview for getting it right the first time where the competition had failed me before. Rob and the account representative began working with the Pier 1 interviewers that same day to ensure that I was contacted for a follow-up interview the following week.

I was hired by Pier 1 as the Savannah Distribution Center Shipping Supervisor. I couldn't have found a better fit for my transition position. I never would have even thought of this position if it weren't for Rob.

Rob was attentive to my needs, as well as to the needs of Pier 1 as a client. In so doing, they were able to readily match candidates to meet the needs of the client and candidate at the same time. On top of introducing me to Pier 1, Orion worked very hard to ensure that I would stand out among other candidates who interviewed at the Savannah distribution center. They even assisted in compensation negotiations in order to ensure that when the job offer came from Pier 1, it would be an offer I wouldn't hesitate to accept.

Orion was hands down the best business association I have ever made. I look forward to continuing my relationship with Orion when I use their services to help find the perfect candidate to be my successor when I get promoted. If should ever become a candidate again, I will be sure to give Orion the first shot at placing me in the perfect job. Thanks again, Orion, especially Rob.
