Position Overview:

Reporting to the Projects Control Manager, we are seeking a detail oriented and analytical Project Cost Engineer to support the financial performance analysis of multiple customer projects within our LV switchgear project portfolio. This role is critical to ensuring accurate cost tracking, forecasting and financial reporting across a range of data centre client projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with Program and Project Managers, Finance and Operations teams to provide insights that drive informed decision-making and project success.

What You'll Be Doing:

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyze project budgets, actual costs and forecasts-to-complete across multiple projects.
  • Prepare weekly cost reports, variance analyses and financial performance summaries for SMT.
  • Support Earned Value Analysis, Cost-to-Complete, Planned V's Actual spend and timing across projects.
  • Identify any financial risks which may escalate during the full project lifecycle.
  • Collect, consolidate and analyze data from multiple project streams to assess overall program health.
  • Track and report KPI's e.g. budget adherence, schedule variance, earned value and forecast accuracy.
  • Ensure alignment between project financials and corporate reporting standards.
  • Facilitate project finance control reviews and support audit readiness.
  • Maintain dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time visibility to stakeholders.

Cost Control & Forecasting:

  • Track and validate cost inputs from procurement, manufacturing and subcontractors.
  • Verify WIP values throughout all stages of production and ensure alignment with SAP data.
  • Identify cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project cost baselines and change control processes.

Project Support:

  • Support the P.C. Manager by participating in project reviews and support financial planning activities.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure financial alignment with project delivery schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and client contractual requirements.

Process Improvement:

  • Contribute to the development of standardized cost project finance tools and templates.
  • Support automation and digitization of cost tracking and reporting processes.
  • Promote best practices in cost control and financial transparency.
  • Develop and refine project control processes, templates and tools.
  • Promote best practices in cost control, scheduling and performance tracking.
  • Train and support project teams in the use of financial control systems and methodologies.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cost engineering, financial analysis or project controls.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, financial modelling, Power BI or other data visualization tools.
  • Experience with ERP and project management systems e.g. SAP, Oracle.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile).
  • Familiarity with electrical switchgear systems, manufacturing or data center environments is a plus.
