Description


The Industrial HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC and air-quality systems at a large-scale mining operation. This hands-on industrial maintenance position performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance while ensuring work complies with NEC, NFPA, MSHA, environmental, and site safety requirements.
The technician will troubleshoot HVAC electrical and control systems, interpret electrical schematics and process-control documentation, participate in maintenance planning and scheduling, maintain system records, and provide additional support to the Electrical Department. The position requires the ability to work safely in an industrial environment that may include elevated work areas, confined spaces, and harsh weather conditions.


Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • HVAC degree, certification, or equivalent HVAC experience
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification or ability to obtain
  • Hands-on HVAC installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience
  • Experience operating and maintaining HVAC and air-quality equipment
  • Experience performing corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance
  • Strong HVAC electrical and controls troubleshooting skills
  • Hands-on experience with auxiliary equipment, power systems, and control systems
  • Ability to methodically troubleshoot HVAC and air-handling electrical and control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to read process flow diagrams (PFDs)
  • Ability to read piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Ability to interpret vendor technical information, procedures, and applicable codes
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, including NEC and NFPA requirements
  • Ability to work in accordance with established environmental and operational procedures
  • Ability to follow and enforce site safety procedures
  • Ability to participate in maintenance planning and scheduling activities
  • Ability to create and maintain HVAC maintenance reports and records
  • Ability to support electrical maintenance activities as required
  • Ability to operate computers using a Windows operating system
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English for safe and efficient job performance
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms and walkways
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in harsh weather conditions
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform bending, stooping, and kneeling as required
