Description
The Maintenance Chief is responsible for leading all maintenance operations within a high-volume commercial laundry manufacturing facility. This leadership role oversees maintenance technicians while ensuring production equipment and facility systems operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. The Maintenance Chief develops preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, manages maintenance budgets and resources, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and plant productivity.
This position is ideal for experienced maintenance managers, maintenance superintendents, maintenance chiefs, industrial maintenance leaders, or military maintenance professionals with a strong electrical and mechanical background who excel at leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Previous leadership experience managing maintenance technicians.
- Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance practices and equipment reliability.
- Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance background.
- Experience developing and managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience improving equipment uptime and production efficiency.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and perform effectively under pressure.
- Willingness to work extended hours as business needs require.
Requirements:
- Lead all maintenance operations for a high-volume commercial laundry facility.
- Supervise, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Maximize equipment reliability while minimizing production downtime.
- Establish maintenance schedules, work priorities, and resource allocation.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend repairs, upgrades, and replacements.
- Coordinate emergency repairs and equipment troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and maintenance planning.
- Collaborate with production and plant leadership to improve operational efficiency.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain maintenance records and equipment history using a CMMS.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and equipment reliability.
Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Commercial laundry industry experience (highly preferred).
- Planning & Control of Maintenance (PCM) experience.
- Lean Manufacturing experience.
- Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience.
- Predictive maintenance experience.
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintenance budget management and planning experience.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
- Boiler maintenance experience.
- TIG/MIG welding experience.
