Description
The DC Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of distribution center employees during 3rd shift operations. This position oversees the safe, accurate, and efficient receiving, shipping, and movement of boxes and products throughout the distribution center. The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on leader with experience managing people, maintaining productivity, and using Excel and other systems to track operations and performance.
This is a leadership and distribution operations role, not a mechanical or maintenance position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, train, and manage a team of distribution center employees.
- Oversee daily receiving and shipping operations to ensure accurate and timely movement of boxes and products.
- Coordinate workflow and staffing to meet daily production, shipping, and receiving schedules.
- Monitor employee performance, productivity, attendance, and safety.
- Address employee concerns and handle conflict professionally and effectively.
- Ensure all employees follow company safety policies, procedures, and applicable union contract requirements.
- Maintain accurate production, shipping, receiving, and inventory records.
- Use Microsoft Excel to track operational data, create reports, and monitor performance.
- Identify causes of delays or workflow issues and take action to improve efficiency.
- Communicate shift performance, staffing needs, and operational issues with management and other supervisors.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within a distribution center, warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, or military environment.
- Experience managing employees and coordinating daily operations.
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and computer-based reporting systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle conflict, coach employees, and build strong working relationships.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Ideal Candidate: A strong people leader with warehouse or distribution operations experience who can manage a team, keep shipping and receiving operations running efficiently, and confidently track performance using Excel.
