Description
As a Facility Engineer, you will support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure within a mission-critical data center environment. You will work as part of the site operations team responsible for maintaining the infrastructure necessary to support 100% uptime for Fortune 500 customers.
You will operate and troubleshoot critical power distribution, UPS systems, PDUs, transformers, switchgear, generators, emergency power systems, CRAH units, HVAC, and other facility equipment. You will also perform preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to equipment alarms and failures, coordinate contractors and vendors, and document maintenance and operational activities.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- 3+ years of experience in data center operations, critical facilities, industrial maintenance, power generation, electrical maintenance, mechanical systems, HVAC, or a related technical field
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems
- Experience with 120/208V and/or 277/480V electrical systems
- Experience with UPS systems, PDUs, transformers, switchgear, or similar critical power equipment
- Experience with generators and emergency power systems
- Knowledge of mechanical and HVAC systems
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to safely operate and work around critical electrical and mechanical equipment
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation, procedures, and equipment information
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to use computerized maintenance or ticketing systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer-service mindset
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. overhead
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Data center or mission-critical facilities experience
- Military technical training or experience in electrical, mechanical, power generation, HVAC, or facilities operations
- Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems up to 25kV
- Advanced experience with UPS systems, PDUs, transformers, switchgear, and electrical distribution
- Advanced generator experience
- CRAH/CRAC or mission-critical cooling experience
- Electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or facilities-related trade license
- Preventive and predictive maintenance experience
- Experience managing contractors and vendors
- CMMS experience
- Knowledge of NEC standards and electrical safety practices
- Experience supporting high-availability environments such as data centers, hospitals, telecommunications facilities, or power plants
- Experience with transfer switches and associated emergency power equipment
