Description

The Field Service Technician is responsible for supporting maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning activities on uninterruptible power systems (UPS) and associated power generation equipment. This role performs preventive maintenance, assists with the assembly and disassembly of systems, supports diagnostics of semi-complex electromechanical equipment issues, and ensures equipment reliability and minimal downtime for customers. The technician will document service activities, maintain tools and test equipment, support vibration analysis and balancing tasks, assist with rigging and equipment delivery, and ensure accurate reporting of service work. This position requires close collaboration with field service leadership and project teams while maintaining strong customer service standards and adhering to company safety and operational procedures.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the power industry (military or commercial)
• Functional understanding of electronic and power system principles
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical systems
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical/mechanical equipment
• Windows-based computer experience
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

• Ability to work irregular schedules and varied work environments
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and safely climb ladders
• Ability to document service work, job reports, and maintenance records accurately
• Ability to maintain tools, testing equipment, and service vehicle readiness
• Ability to diagnose semi-complex electro-mechanical equipment problems
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance while working with customers

Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
• Trade school Associate degree or equivalent military technical training
• Experience working with UPS systems, generators, or switchgear
• Experience using diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, load banks, and amp meters
• Experience assisting with vibration analysis and equipment balancing
• Experience with start-up and commissioning of power generation equipment
