Senior Automation Specialist

The Automation Specialist is responsible for installing, commissioning, and supporting building automation systems in commercial and industrial environments. This role focuses on system startup, programming verification, and ensuring performance aligns with project specifications and operational requirements.

The specialist serves as a key technical resource on-site, working closely with customers and project teams to ensure successful system operation, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in building automation or related controls systems
• Strong programming or controls systems experience
• Ability to read and interpret design and construction documents
• Experience with low-voltage system integration protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LON, or N2
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

Requirements

• Commission building automation and distributed control systems on-site
• Verify system programming and database accuracy against project scope
• Document commissioning activities and communicate progress or deficiencies
• Perform system testing, validation, and customer acceptance procedures
• Configure workstations, user interfaces, and network systems
• Troubleshoot system performance and resolve operational issues
• Coordinate with contractors and project teams during startup activities
• Provide customer training on system operations
• Submit reports, time tracking, and expense documentation
• Participate in on-call rotation and occasional extended work hours
• Follow safety policies and procedures
