Job Description

Orion Talent is helping a client hire an Accounting Manager in Greenbelt, MD.

Salary: $95-110k

This is a hybrid position – i.e., mostly remote with occasional office visits to our location in Greenbelt, MD (approximately 1-3 times per month) with free parking.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Project setup: Review contract documents, initiate internal contract kick-off meetings, ensure initial setup in Costpoint is accurate and effective for optimal program and billing execution including workforce mappings and rates
Project maintenance: Execute modifications and maintain data quality – contract/funding values, period of performance, and labor categories; communicate project risks and opportunities identified during financial reviews
Project close-out: Client reporting, external and internal de-obligations
Review timesheets for completeness and accuracy, execute revisions, post timesheets
Generate billings for multiple contract types (i.e., CPFF, T&M, Fixed-Price) and obtain project manager (PM) approval
Conduct project analysis and P&Ls, communicate risks and opportunities to Manager and PMs, review and monitor contract expenditures; prepare project monthly progress reports, financial dashboards, or other reports as requested
Process bi-weekly accounts payable or semi-monthly payroll payments
Reconciliations: Bank and General Ledger
Month-end/year-end close: Assist with analysis and reporting
Provide support, analysis and reporting for proposal efforts
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for repeatable processes, cross-train staff
Other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the organization
All duties and responsibilities should be completed timely, accurately and within the established accounting and departmental guidelines
Required Skills/Experience:

Bachelor or master’s degree in accounting
Minimum of 5 years government contracting experience with knowledge of industry-related accounting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Minimum of 3 years management experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficient in Deltek Costpoint: Specifically, project setup and reporting
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
Detail- and results-oriented, self-starter, forward thinking, and organized
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a complex environment with competing deadlines
Ability to pass background check
