Description

This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining automated instruments used in histology, cytology, and hematology. The position performs field service, installations, evaluations, inspections, testing, and decontamination at customer sites while complying with biohazard and electrical safety standards. The individual provides technical support to Field Service Technicians, BMETs, and internal teams, and trains technicians and other personnel on installation, repair, testing, and decontamination procedures. Responsibilities also include developing and updating service manuals, conducting on-site and off-site training sessions, documenting service reports, drafting service bulletins in compliance with FDA regulations, coordinating product feedback with Manufacturing and Product Development teams, analyzing service failures, and preparing detailed reports. The role ensures compliance with ISO 13485 standards, maintains a safe and organized work environment, and supports special projects, process improvements, and additional assignments as needed. Location: Chicago, IL or Milwaukee, WI – must reside within one hour of a major airport

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
• 3+ years of field service experience on electromechanical equipment
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for complex instrumentation
• Ability to perform electrical safety testing and instrument decontamination
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to travel up to 75% domestically
• Strong documentation and reporting skills

Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently
• Ability to lift, stand, and work with tools and service equipment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to train, mentor, and guide other technicians or personnel
• Maintain professional conduct and strict safety practices at customer sites

Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
• Experience with histology, cytology, or hematology instrumentation
• Knowledge of ISO 13485 and FDA compliance standards
• Prior experience training Field Service Technicians or technical staff
• Experience contributing to service bulletins, product feedback, or quality reporting
