Field Service Technician

Description

The Field Service Technician supports the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of specialized large-diameter fiberglass pipe systems used on municipal water and infrastructure projects. This entry-level field service role combines hands-on mechanical work, construction-site support, technical documentation, customer interaction, and extensive overnight travel.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to use Houston, TX as home base and complete initial and ongoing training.
• Willingness to travel extensively (50%-80%), including overnight travel and occasional short-notice assignments.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
• Ability to read and follow:

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors, in confined spaces, underground, and in active construction environments.
• Ability to work independently while traveling and manage schedules, expenses, and documentation.
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

• Review project drawings, specifications, schedules, and safety requirements before deployment.
• Coordinate travel logistics including flights, rental vehicles, lodging, tools, and equipment.
• Perform installation support, inspections, fiberglass lamination, maintenance, and pipe repairs.
• Complete Houston-based fitting shop training and learn production, pipe assembly, fitting modifications, and quality procedures.
• Train alongside experienced Field Service Engineers for one to two years before independently supporting projects.
• Work in confined spaces and underground utility environments.
• Document repairs, photographs, notes, and service activities using Salesforce or field service software.
• Submit service reports, billing information, and travel expenses accurately and on time.
• Communicate project status, safety concerns, material needs, and technical issues with customers and management.
• Represent the company professionally with contractors, engineers, municipalities, and public-sector customers.
• Maintain tools, equipment, PPE, and company vehicles.
• Follow OSHA, confined-space, vehicle safety, quality, and company safety procedures.
• Travel extensively throughout the United States and occasionally Canada.

• Experience with large-diameter fiberglass reinforced pipe (FRP) or waterworks products.
• Military backgrounds including:
  • Army Engineers (12 Series)
  • Army Construction Equipment Repairer (91L)
  • Army Utilities Equipment Repairer (91C)
  • Navy Seabees (BU, CE, CM, EO, SW)
  • Navy Hull Maintenance Technician (HT)
  • Navy Machinist's Mate (MM)
  • Air Force Structural (3E3X1)
  • Air Force Pavements & Construction Equipment (3E2X1)
  • Marine Corps Engineering, Utilities, or Heavy Equipment specialties
