Description
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment supporting a large-scale mining operation. This hands-on industrial electrical position works with power distribution, motors, motor controls, pumps, PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, automated equipment, and electrical circuits ranging from 24V through 4,160V.
The electrician will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot industrial motor-control and automated systems, calibrate instrumentation, interpret electrical drawings and schematics, and repair or replace defective components. This position requires extensive industrial electrical experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely in a demanding heavy-industrial environment.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of field industrial electrical experience in mining or heavy industry
- Graduate of an accredited electrical program such as JATC or equivalent electrical curriculum, or Associate degree in Industrial Electronics or related field
- Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical equipment
- Experience working with electrical circuits from 24V through 4,160V
- Industrial motor wiring and troubleshooting experience
- Strong industrial motor-control systems experience
- Experience troubleshooting motors, panels, pumps, control equipment, and automated equipment
- Experience installing and troubleshooting conduit and electrical fixtures
- Experience with 480V motor power and control systems
- Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems
- PLC troubleshooting experience
- VFD troubleshooting experience
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on industrial electrical equipment
- Ability to perform electrical ground checks
- Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic control systems
- Experience with microprocessors, sensors, and final control elements used in automated processes
- Ability to calibrate and repair instrumentation and associated equipment
- Experience working with level, pressure, temperature, flow, or analytical instrumentation
- Ability to diagnose electrical problems and repair, adjust, or replace defective components
- Ability to generate work requests, work orders, and related maintenance documentation
- Ability to maintain current NFPA 70E training and compliance
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team
- Ability to work independently and take a leadership role on assigned projects
- Strong commitment to electrical and workplace safety
- Willingness to stop work when unsafe conditions are identified
- Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental and weather conditions
- Ability to perform approximately 80% of job duties outdoors
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
