Description
We are seeking Renewable Energy Technicians to support the operation, construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), substations, transmission, and collection systems. This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on maintaining high-voltage electrical infrastructure and ensuring safe, reliable operations.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform construction, maintenance, and operation of substations, transmission, collection systems, and BESS equipment
- Provide troubleshooting and resolution support for protection and control equipment and relay schemes
- Report and coordinate emergency response and repair of high-voltage and battery storage systems
- Support Balance of Plant (BOP) operations and construction activities
- Establish and maintain high-voltage inventory, equipment, tooling, and vehicles
- Maintain LOTO proficiency and ensure adherence to site safety protocols
- Operate the facility in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
- Support emergency response during after-hours callouts
- Interface and coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and landowners
- Read and interpret high-voltage electrical schematics and technical drawings
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum 4 years of medium/high-voltage electrical experience or equivalent military experience
- Experience using diagnostic and electrical testing tools
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical drawings and electrical schematics
- Strong computer skills with ability to navigate internet-based systems and interpret system data
- Ability to follow strict safety protocols
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Military background in high-voltage or power generation roles (Navy EMN/ETN/MMN/EM/FC, Army 12P, Air Force Power Pro, etc.)
- Experience with substations, transmission systems, or renewable energy sites
- Experience with relay protection systems and SCADA
- Previous Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) experience
- Field service or contractor coordination experience
