Description
Travel: Willingness to travel extensively (60%) to support client needs on domestic and international assignments.
As a Field Engineer in the Energy Systems division, you will be at the forefront of the industry's shift toward advanced electrification, supporting sophisticated power distribution and energy storage systems onboard a diverse fleet of vessels. Looking for candidates with good knowledge and experience working on 3-phase, High Voltage 3.3kV, Switchboard Panels, Breakers, Power Distribution, Frequency Drives, and Generators. Experience with ABB, Siemens, Danfoss / Vacon, Wartsila.
- Service & Commissioning: Perform expert service and commissioning of Company Energy Systems onboard vessels.
- Technical Support: Provide high-level troubleshooting via phone and email support lines to global customers.
- Field Execution: Execute service assignments as requested by customers with a high degree of autonomy.
- Documentation: Ensure timely and accurate completion of service reports, timesheets, and expense reports per Work Orders.
- Engineering Integration: Produce and update As-Built documentation and technical drawings.
- Sales Support: Interface with customers and internal engineering groups to provide technical information for marketing and sales initiatives.
- Continuous Learning: Proactively develop qualifications through internal and external training courses.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Electrical Expertise: Solid experience related to shipboard power distribution, switchboards, breakers, frequency drives (VFD), and generators.
- Technical Experience: 4+ years of experience as an Electrician or Technician working with Drive/VFD systems, LV/HV Switchboard building, or Battery/Energy Storage Systems.
- Certifications: Low Voltage (up to 1000VAC/1500VDC) or High Voltage certificate is highly desirable.
- Education: Equivalent electrical marine power distribution systems work experience or a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. A formal apprenticeship/certificate within the field is a plus.
- IT Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office, basic networking, and technical software (AutoCAD, Orcad, or similar).
