Description

We are seeking an Electrical Technician to support the maintenance and operational reliability of pipeline electrical systems. This role focuses on performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical and instrumentation equipment with minimal disruption to pipeline operations.

The Electrical Technician will independently troubleshoot and maintain complex electrical systems while ensuring compliance with safety policies, operational procedures, and regulatory standards. This position also plays an important role in mentoring technicians, supporting regional operations, and ensuring electrical infrastructure operates safely and efficiently.

This role is primarily field based, supporting pipeline systems, tank farms, and associated electrical infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures while ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain required training, operator qualifications (OQ), and technical competencies necessary to perform maintenance and repairs on electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, and repair electrical systems to maintain optimal facility performance.
  • Assist with complex maintenance tasks under guidance from senior technicians, specialists, or supervisors.
  • Learn and operate advanced electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Perform maintenance according to company maintenance plans and document work activities in maintenance databases.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation and emergency response activities.
  • Provide recommendations for equipment replacement and assist with procurement and inventory management.
  • Mentor and coach junior technicians and support workforce development.
  • Ensure regional safety, reliability, and operational objectives are prioritized in daily work activities.
  • Support project design reviews when required.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance inspections.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure preventative maintenance schedules are completed.
  • Utilize computer systems and applications including Microsoft Office, Windows systems, spreadsheets, and email.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant electrical maintenance experience
  • Technical or vocational education in electrical or instrumentation systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Valid driver's license with a strong driving record
  • Ability to work independently in field-based environments

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Additional 5+ years of experience supporting crude oil pipelines, tank farms, or energy delivery facilities
  • Certified technical designation or electrical certification
  • Electrical Journeyman license or participation in an accredited apprenticeship program
  • Experience working with pumps, motors, actuators, switchgear, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor control centers, and instrumentation
  • Industrial HVAC/R experience
