Description
The company is hiring a Maintenance Manager for its chemical manufacturing site in Chester, PA. This role is responsible for leading daily maintenance operations, supporting plant reliability, managing maintenance priorities, overseeing a team of maintenance personnel, coordinating contractors, and supporting capital projects in a high-tempo manufacturing environment.
This is a strong opportunity for a proven maintenance leader from a chemical, process, industrial, or manufacturing environment who is comfortable balancing shop-floor leadership, planning, budgeting, troubleshooting support, contractor coordination, safety, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily maintenance activities for the Chester, PA site.
- Manage, coach, and support a team of 4 direct reports.
- Support maintenance scheduling, work planning, troubleshooting, prioritization, and execution.
- Manage small to medium capital projects in the $300K-$700K range.
- Support capital budgets, repair budgets, and maintenance spending.
- Coordinate and manage contractors working onsite.
- Provide diagnostic and troubleshooting support to maintenance and operations teams.
- Spend time on the shop floor with maintenance and operations personnel during troubleshooting, improvement activities, and supervision.
- Promote a strong safety, environmental, regulatory, quality, productivity, cost control, and asset management culture.
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Communicate plant maintenance issues, concerns, and updates to the Plant Manager and site leadership.
- Build strong working relationships with maintenance personnel, operations, contractors, and plant leadership.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and help execute plant improvement projects.
- Align maintenance practices with reliability-based asset management goals.
- Monitor and maintain the integrity of plant assets and protective systems.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 7 or more years of experience in a chemical manufacturing, process manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, or plant maintenance environment.
- Maintenance leadership, maintenance supervision, or maintenance management experience.
- Experience leading mechanics, technicians, contractors, or maintenance personnel.
- Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage maintenance work in a high-tempo plant environment.
- Experience with maintenance budgeting, repair budgets, project budgets, or capital project support.
- Working knowledge of plant equipment, mechanical systems, and process manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, reactors, filtration systems, flow measurement equipment, conveyors, mills, and bulk solid or powder material transfer systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, or work with technical documentation such as PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, equipment lists, manuals, and drawings.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold people accountable, push back when needed, and lead through competing priorities.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with plant personnel, contractors, and leadership.
- Strong safety mindset and ability to lead by example in a manufacturing environment.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Technical degree, STEM degree, trade school, or equivalent technical training.
- Chemical manufacturing experience.
- Experience managing capital projects in the $300K-$700K range.
- Experience with reliability-based asset management systems.
- Experience with CMMS, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, maintenance planning, and maintenance scheduling.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
- Experience managing contractors in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement projects.
- Military maintenance leadership experience, especially when paired with manufacturing, industrial, utilities, mechanical, or process equipment experience.
