Description
The Instrumentation & Electrical Technician will support, operate, maintain, and optimize electrical systems and instrumentation across the plant. This role is critical to ensuring operational safety, equipment reliability, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will bring strong industrial electrical knowledge, hands-on technical skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic power generation environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Promote Operational Excellence & Reliability
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems up to and including 115 kV.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on motor control centers, distribution breakers, motors, and power/control circuits.
- Calibrate transmitters, controllers, monitoring devices, and other instrumentation for optimal performance.
- Execute mechanical preventive maintenance and identify developing equipment issues using diagnostic techniques and observation.
- Maintain adequate inventory of critical and long-lead-time parts; generate purchase orders and track deliveries.
- Review, interpret, and update electrical and instrumentation drawings to support troubleshooting and installation tasks.
Required:
- Solid understanding of 3-phase electrical systems and industrial power concepts.
- 5–10 years of experience in instrumentation, electrical maintenance, or a related industrial field.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass a DOT Drug Test, Pre-Screening Physical, and participate in DOT Random Drug Testing.
- Preferred:
- Experience in a power plant, industrial manufacturing, or similar heavy-industry environment.
- Background as a power plant operator, mechanic, millwright, or similar role.
Education & Experience
- Technical/vocational training, military technical schooling, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Two to four years of related experience and/or training in power generation or industrial maintenance strongly preferred.
