Description
The ALPM Mechanic is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy mobile equipment at a large-scale mining operation. This hands-on maintenance role supports equipment including loaders, haul trucks, cranes, motor graders, bulldozers, and other hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
The mechanic will perform preventive maintenance services, inspect equipment for damage and excessive wear, complete basic troubleshooting, create work orders and job requests, and conduct daily workplace and equipment safety inspections. This position is primarily performed outdoors and requires a strong commitment to safe work practices in an industrial mining environment.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance skills
- Experience performing scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) services
- Knowledge of lubricants used in mobile or heavy equipment maintenance
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance inspections on mobile equipment
- Ability to inspect mechanical components for damage and excessive wear
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on hydraulic and mechanical equipment
- Ability to create work orders and job requests as needed
- Ability to perform daily workplace and equipment safety inspections
- Strong commitment to safety policies, procedures, and best practices
- Willingness and authority to stop work when unsafe conditions are identified
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed
- Ability to take a leadership role on assigned projects when required
- Ability and willingness to rotate work assignments for continued training and development
- Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental and weather conditions
- Ability to perform approximately 80% of job duties outdoors
- Ability to lift up to 65 pounds occasionally
- Ability to walk on slopes and uneven terrain daily
