Description

The Instrument Service Engineer (Training Center) serves as the final technical authority for all diagnostic instruments supporting customer and internal training. This role is accountable for instrument readiness, performance, compliance, and risk prevention to ensure uninterrupted training delivery and a world-class customer experience. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the position extends beyond break/fix service and includes advanced diagnostics, performance trend analysis, instructor enablement, and cross functional technical leadership.

  • Responsible for the technical performance, configuration, and readiness of all of Company's Diagnostic systems (Atellica Solutions, Atellica CI) utilized for customer and internal training.
  • Perform installations, preventative maintenance, upgrades, advanced troubleshooting, corrective actions, relocations, and configuration management for Training Center instruments.
  • Ensure Training Center instrumentation meets defined trainer and customer experience standards.

Service, Quality, & Compliance:

  • Schedule, perform, and successfully complete all assigned Service activities in a timely manner.
  • Manage and execute Modification Updates (MUs) and software upgrades.
  • Maintain audit-ready service records and strict adherence to QMS, regulatory, safety, and documentation requirements.
  • Support audits, investigations, CAPAs, and quality initiatives related to training instruments.

Technical Leadership & Instructor Enablement:

  • Act as the primary technical escalation point for training center instrumentation.
  • Analyze service history, instrument logs, data, and failure for trend identification & resolution.
  • Identify systemic issues, readiness gaps, and service/operational risks impacting training delivery.
  • Deliver instrument care and fault-prevention training to instructors and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain training center-specific readiness checklists, service best practices, and guidance.
  • Provide regular updates on service status, planned maintenance, repairs, and identified risks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Infrastructure Support:

  • Support cross-functional, global and local initiatives.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product Support, Service, and Education teams to resolve systemic issues.
  • Provide structured feedback and recommendations for product enhancements based on real-world instrument behavior.
  • Provide technical guidance for laboratory infrastructure requirements (water systems, refrigeration, environmental controls).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, service processes, and training center efficiency.
  • Lead or contribute to special projects and product launches as required.

Nice-To-Have Skills, Experience, & Education:

  • Degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred (Equivalent Military training/experience accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of field service or complex capital equipment support experience (medical or laboratory diagnostic instruments a plus)
  • Experience with automation, middleware, or high-volume laboratory environments preferred
Must-Have Skills, Experience, & Education:

  • Experienced electronics technicians with 3+ years of experience in system troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and servicing equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills applied to complex technical issues
  • Ability to operate independently with limited oversight.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and successfully perform under pressure managing multiple systems, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to drive and influence best practices.
  • High attention to detail and meet good documentation practices (GDP) requirements.
  • Customer-centric mindset with clear ownership and accountability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
