Description

The Field Service Representative is responsible for installing, starting up, troubleshooting, maintaining, and servicing advanced industrial machinery and related technology at customer locations. This hands-on field service position requires strong mechanical, electrical, controls, and troubleshooting skills to diagnose equipment problems and ensure machinery operates safely, reliably, and efficiently.

The Field Service Representative will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot machine controls and mechanical components, provide customer training, document service activities, and work with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and other technical personnel to resolve complex equipment issues. Extensive equipment-specific training is provided, and prior woodworking machinery experience is not required for candidates with strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, field service, machinery service, equipment maintenance, electrical/mechanical systems, CNC, manufacturing equipment, or a related technical field
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of electrical and/or electronic systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex industrial equipment in the field
  • Experience performing hands-on equipment maintenance and repair
  • Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, controls, and operational equipment issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine controls, sensors, motors, drives, electrical systems, and mechanical components
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, manuals, and equipment information
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work with PC-based equipment controls and software
  • Ability to document service activities, equipment problems, repairs, and customer concerns
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer-service skills and professional communication
  • Ability to communicate technical issues, repairs, and recommended solutions to customers
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, equipment manufacturers, and technical personnel

  • Ability to train customers on equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work safely in manufacturing and industrial environments
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 60% regionally
  • Ability to travel primarily Monday–Friday
  • Ability and willingness to work approximately 350–400 hours of overtime annually
  • Must live within approximately one hour of a major commercial airport
