Description
The Field Service Engineer supports critical power facilities by performing startups, testing, troubleshooting, modifications, repairs, preventive maintenance, warranty service, and emergency response on automatic transfer switches and related power-control equipment. This is a hands-on, customer-facing field service role supporting mission-critical environments such as data centers, airports, telecommunications facilities, healthcare facilities, and other critical infrastructure.
The successful candidate will have experience with electrical power systems, low- through medium-voltage switchgear, automatic transfer switches, and electrical schematics and blueprints. This position requires extensive regional travel, 24/7 on-call availability, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while providing a high level of customer service.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 years of relevant field service engineering experience
- Experience with electrical power systems
- Experience with low-voltage through medium-voltage switchgear
- Experience supporting critical power facilities such as data centers, airports, healthcare facilities, telecommunications facilities, or similar environments
- Experience testing automatic transfer switches (ATS)
- Experience performing automatic transfer switch startups, troubleshooting, modifications, or repairs
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
- Experience with power-control and automation systems
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Experience providing technical support during standard and non-standard field startups
- Experience performing remedial repairs and preventive maintenance
- Experience supporting warranty and emergency service calls
- Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and industry standards
- Strong customer-facing technical service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers regarding technical issues and project requirements
- Ability to complete projects on time and within budget guidelines
- Strong project-management, organization, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed
- Strong commitment to customer satisfaction
- Ability to comply with safety policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable laws
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% regionally
- Ability to maintain 24/7 on-call availability
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
