Description

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of PLC-based control systems and electrical control panels for material handling systems. This role supports projects from initial design through manufacturing and field implementation by creating electrical schematics, selecting PLC hardware, developing Bills of Materials, supporting panel fabrication, and providing technical support during installation and commissioning.
Working closely with manufacturing, drafting, vendors, and customers, you will ensure control systems are designed in accordance with UL508A and NEC standards while delivering reliable, high-quality automation solutions.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Industrial Control Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related industry experience if no engineering degree.
  • Experience designing PLC-based control systems.
  • Experience with:
    • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix
    • CompactLogix
    • SLC 500
  • HMI programming experience using Rockwell software.
  • Experience with motion control systems and servo drives.
  • Experience using:
    • AutoCAD Electrical 2018 or newer
    • AutoCAD 2018 or newer
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Working knowledge of:
    • UL508A standards
    • National Electrical Code (NEC)
    • OSHA standards
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements:
  • Design PLC-based control panels using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Develop electrical schematics and control panel layouts.
  • Prepare conveyor and field component layouts.
  • Specify field devices including:
    • Motors
    • Solenoids
    • Photo eyes
    • Limit switches
  • Select PLC hardware based on I/O count, memory, and customer requirements.
  • Design motor and control circuits compliant with UL508A standards.
  • Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for control panels and field components.
  • Prepare production documentation for manufacturing.
  • Support control panel building and wiring activities.
  • Review engineering drawings and BOMs for accuracy.
  • Coordinate electrical interfaces with customers and third-party vendors.
  • Provide telephone support for field installation and troubleshooting.
  • Resolve customer technical issues as required.
  • Work overtime to support project schedules when necessary.

Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Experience with:
    • Siemens PLCs
    • IFM controls
    • SICK sensors and optics
  • Experience with NR12 compliance.
  • Material handling or conveyor automation experience.
  • Industrial automation or controls engineering background.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and panel fabrication.
  • Familiarity with conveyor controls and automated material handling systems.
  • Experience coordinating multi-vendor automation projects.
