Description

The Field Service Engineer supports critical power facilities by performing startups, troubleshooting, modifications, repairs, preventive maintenance, warranty service, and emergency response on automatic transfer switches and related power-control equipment. This is a hands-on, customer-facing field service position supporting mission-critical environments such as data centers, telecommunications facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, and other critical infrastructure.

The successful candidate will have a strong electrical power background, experience with low- and medium-voltage equipment, automatic transfer switches, and the ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints. This position requires extensive travel, 24/7 on-call availability, strong customer-service skills, and the ability to work independently at customer sites.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant field service engineering experience
  • Experience with electrical power systems
  • Experience with low-voltage through medium-voltage switchgear
  • Experience supporting critical power facilities such as data centers, airports, healthcare facilities, telecommunications facilities, or similar environments
  • Experience testing automatic transfer switches (ATS)
  • Experience performing automatic transfer switch startups, troubleshooting, modifications, or repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Experience with power-control and automation systems
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Experience providing technical support during equipment startups
  • Experience performing remedial repairs and preventive maintenance
  • Experience supporting warranty and emergency service calls
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and industry standards
  • Strong customer-facing technical service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers regarding technical issues and project requirements
  • Ability to complete projects on time and within budget guidelines
  • Strong project-management, organization, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed
