Description
We are seeking a skilled and driven Trade Manager to lead a high-performing HVAC service operation. This role is responsible for overseeing daily field service activities, managing a team of technicians, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across residential and light commercial customers.
This position is especially well-suited for veterans (E6+ / NCO leadership experience) and operational leaders with backgrounds in HVAC, mechanical, facilities maintenance, field service, or similar technical environments. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in fast-paced operations, takes ownership of team performance, and is passionate about developing others.
You will play a key role in shaping team culture, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring customers receive top-tier service every time.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations of a high-volume HVAC service department, including scheduling, dispatching, and workflow management
- Supervise, train, and develop HVAC service technicians to improve technical skills, productivity, and customer service performance
- Evaluate daily workload and assign jobs to maximize efficiency and response times across the field team
- Provide hands-on leadership, including technical support, troubleshooting guidance, and field coaching as needed
- Oversee job completion quality, customer satisfaction, and service standards across all technicians
- Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training of technicians and field staff
- Communicate effectively with customers, office staff, sales teams, and field personnel to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain accurate documentation of service calls, job notes, and performance reporting within company systems
- Monitor team performance metrics and implement improvements to drive efficiency and accountability
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and HVAC industry regulations
- Stay current on HVAC technologies, equipment updates, and service best practices
- Foster a culture of leadership, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- 5+ years of HVAC, mechanical, field service, or operations management experience preferred
- Military leadership experience strongly encouraged (E6 / NCO-level or higher leadership experience highly valued)
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and manage teams in a fast-paced operational environment
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Technical understanding of residential and light commercial HVAC systems preferred
- Ability to train and coach technicians on diagnostics and service procedures
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and service management systems)
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Ability to work in field environments, including occasional physical demands and outdoor conditions
- High energy, strong work ethic, and a solutions-focused mindset
