Description
The ASU Plant Manager has overall responsibility for employees and the production of cryogenic materials and pipeline gases at the site. This role is designed for a high-capacity professional who can operate effectively in a fast-paced, demanding, and highly competitive industrial environment. You will lead a team of 4 (3 Ops Techs & 1 Maint Tech) direct reports where safety is the #1 priority. This plant has gone through a $5M retrofit/relife of capital equipment (motors, pumps, etc.)
The Plant Manager will lead work across the full plant lifecycle, including process optimization, environmental compliance, quality control, personnel management, and the accounting of plant costs. A cost savings project ($375k or greater) will be required by the PM as part of a company-wide continuous improvement initiative.
Plant Management and Operations:
- Lead the advancement of utility-scale BESS and grid-critical energy development projects from origination through notice to proceed, commercial operation, and project handoff, as applicable.
- Oversee plant reliability and the scheduling of daily operations, ensuring continuous and safe production.
- Achieve all production, efficiency, quality, and budgetary targets.
- Manage all personnel hiring, training, and disciplinary actions.
- Coordinate all plant maintenance activities, executing preventive and predictive. maintenance strategies for critical equipment.
- Manage the coordination of plant personnel work scheduling.
- Authorize the payment of plant costs incurred at a local level and manage site P&L.
- Drive commercial and operational readiness by identifying critical path risks and executing mitigation strategies.
Quality Control, Safety & Logistics:
- Maintain strict product release quality control and establish operating procedures for system alarms and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate and provide local oversight of all Distribution activities.
- Manage bulk product customer relations at the local level and support sales staff.
- Coordinate all activities with Bulk Logistics, relationships with customers, vendors, and contractors.
- Qualify and supervise outside vendors and contractors working within the facility.
- Generate and submit regular plant reports to Corporate.
- Champion a strong safety culture and compliance with OSHA, EPA, and internal company standards.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, & Education:
- Equivocal experience working in a similar capacity (mechanical, chemical, or related technical field) with at least 5 years of leadership experience. Military experience in engineering and auxiliary plant operations is great. Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or technical degree preferred.
- Understanding of Air Separation Unit (ASU) processes, cryogenic distillation, and related mechanical/electrical systems.
- Basic computer skills and understanding of General Accounting Techniques.
- Understanding of Analytical principles and process optimization.
- Ability to schedule and manage personnel in an industrial setting.
- Strong public speaking and presentation preparation abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple workstreams and drive execution.
- Willingness and ability to be on call for plant needs (Personnel, Equipment, Customer problems).
