Description
Reporting to the COO, the Region Director of Operations will oversee and lead operations across 5 manufacturing sites across the Northeast. This role will focus on standardizing processes, improving efficiency, and driving profitability while fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a hands-on operations leader with a track record of success in high-volume, low-margin manufacturing environments. This leader will drive strategic initiatives, improve asset utilization and lead cultural transformation to enhance performance and scalability.
The Region Director will be responsible for roughly 400 employees across the 5 sites, with 7-10 direct report operational leaders.
Location: Garner, NC, Long Island, NY, Buffalo, NY, Windsor, NJ or Peabody, MA – must live near or be willing to relocate near one of these locations. Company will assist with relocation expenses.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee P&L for multiple manufacturing locations, ensuring profitability, cost management, and sustainable growth.
- Drive standardization and structure by implementing best practices across all sites to enhance consistency and operational alignment.
- Establish and track KPIs to monitor and drive plant performance, including safety, quality, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.
- Implement lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and automation strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize asset utilization.
- Continuously identify and implement strategies to streamline operations, reduce downtime, and enhance manufacturing capabilities while preparing for future growth.
- Drive the adoption of technology solutions such as ERP, MES, and other digital tools for operational optimization.
- Ensure manufacturing operations are aligned with customer expectations, delivering high quality, reliable, and responsive service.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align manufacturing operations with broader business goals.
- Champion change management initiatives, fostering a high-performance, accountable workforce while mentoring and developing leadership teams to build strong succession pipelines.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive leadership in manufacturing, including proven ability to manage multi-site P&L responsibility.
- Strong background in high-volume, low-margin manufacturing; packaging or printing industry experience strongly preferred.
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization methodologies.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven success in managing complex, matrixed organizations and working cross-functionally to deliver business outcomes.
- Ability to travel 50-75% to oversee and manage site operations.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
