Description
The Fixed Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding fixed processing equipment at a large-scale mining operation. This hands-on industrial maintenance position supports Three-Stage Crushing Facility and Merrill-Crowe process equipment, including conveyors, screens, crushers, pumps, hydraulic systems, and related fixed equipment.
The mechanic will perform preventive maintenance, dismantle and reassemble crushing and processing equipment, inspect components for wear and damage, perform welding and fabrication, and support reliability-centered maintenance initiatives. This position requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, fixed-equipment maintenance experience, and the ability to work safely in a demanding heavy-industrial environment.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of fixed maintenance experience in mining or heavy industry
- Experience maintaining and repairing fixed industrial equipment
- Conveyor maintenance and repair experience
- Screen maintenance experience
- Crushing equipment maintenance experience
- Experience performing preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled PM services
- Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and maintain fixed equipment
- Experience dismantling and reassembling fixed and crushing equipment
- Experience inspecting components for damage and excessive wear
- Ability to use micrometers and gauges
- Working knowledge of Merrill-Crowe processing systems
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems
- Knowledge and certification in oxygen/acetylene cutting
- Knowledge and certification in plasma cutting
- MIG welding experience and certification
- Electrode welding experience and certification
- Ability to weld components according to layouts, blueprints, work orders, and verbal instructions
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
- Ability to generate work requests, work orders, and other maintenance documentation
- Ability to recognize safety hazards, develop corrective solutions, and follow through to ensure hazards are addressed
- Ability to comply with company and governmental safety and environmental regulations
- Ability to participate in Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) program development
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team
- Ability to work independently and take a leadership role on assigned projects
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and willingness to stop work for safety concerns
- Ability and willingness to rotate work assignments for continued training
- Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental and weather conditions
- Ability to perform approximately 80% of job duties outdoors
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally
- Ability to walk on slopes and uneven terrain daily
- Ability to climb and descend ladders daily
