Description

The Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer designs, develops, and improves metal additive manufacturing processes for customer hardware. Working with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and project teams, this engineer applies Design for Additive Manufacturing principles, solves production issues, and helps deliver parts that meet customer and aerospace quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement metal additive manufacturing processes for hardware production.
  • Verify customer requirements and create technical documentation, manufacturing plans, and process records.
  • Apply Design for Additive Manufacturing techniques to optimize part designs and production outcomes.
  • Support customer proposals, RFP responses, new applications, R&D programs, and equipment trials.
  • Test, evaluate, and troubleshoot additive processes and equipment; implement process and equipment improvements.
  • Partner with project management, manufacturing, quality, and technical teams to support on-time delivery.
  • Maintain AS9100 documentation, follow safety requirements, and stay current on metal AM materials and technologies.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, materials, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • Three to six years of experience in metal additive manufacturing or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with metal AM systems such as DMLS or laser powder bed fusion and working knowledge of materials science, metallurgy, and thermal-mechanical behavior.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling and engineering drawing interpretation, with a basic understanding of GD&T.
  • Must meet U.S. Person requirements under ITAR and be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance.

Nice-To-Have Skills, Experience, & Education:

  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing; CNC machining, heat treatment, assembly, surface treatment, or NDT; manufacturing optimization projects; advanced additive manufacturing coursework or certifications.
  • U.S. citizenship is preferred; lawful permanent residents may be considered.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in office, laboratory, prototype, and production settings.
  • Occasional extended hours, weekend work, or travel may be required to support schedules, equipment trials, customers, suppliers, or training.
