Description
Travel: 90% travel. This is a true road warrior position. Engineers generally leave Monday morning and return home Friday evening. Most installation projects last approximately one week per machine. Employees are encouraged to return home on weekends, although they may remain onsite if preferred. Travel is primarily throughout North America.
Seeking a customer-focused Field Service Technicians to install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain world-class CNC gear generating machine tools throughout North America. Responsibilities include:
- Install and commission new gear manufacturing equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, CNC, servo, and controls systems
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance
- Train customer personnel on operation and maintenance
- Read blueprints, machine drawings, and quality charts
- Complete detailed service documentation
- Serve as the primary technical representative supporting customers in the field
Most work involves new machine installations, with repair and service work making up the remainder.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, & Education:
- Strong industrial electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- CNC machine tool experience preferred
- FANUC controls familiarity is highly desirable
- Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to travel approximately 90%
- Valid driver's license
- Good credit history (travel expense card)
- Ability to pass background and drug screening
- U.S. Citizenship (ITAR-controlled customer facilities)
- Gear manufacturing experience
- Gear inspection/quality knowledge (lead, profile, index charts)
- Industrial machine installation experience
Military candidates are strongly encouraged to interview. This position is an outstanding fit for experienced military electromechanical technicians, particularly Navy and Air Force avionics, electronics, radar, fire control, nuclear electronics, and other highly technical maintenance specialties. Company has a strong history of successfully hiring military veterans into its field service organization and is willing to train candidates who possess the right technical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, customer service skills, and willingness to travel. Company has previously hired successful Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps avionics technicians and is open to candidates with strong electromechanical troubleshooting backgrounds who can be trained on the equipment.
Training: Training is primarily on-the-job. Candidates with machining experience typically become fully productive in 9-12 months. Exceptional entry-level candidates may require up to 18 months of development. Most training occurs alongside experienced field engineers, with additional hands-on training at company headquarters when available.
