Description
The System Testing Analyst is responsible for performing battery system testing and analysis to ensure system reliability and performance. This role involves field-based testing, customer interaction, and detailed documentation while adhering to safety and operational standards.
Responsibilities include conducting capacity testing, verifying electrical conditions, and assisting customers with system adjustments in commercial, telecom, and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect battery systems including fluid levels, overall battery voltage, and specific gravity readings
- Record cell float voltages using voltmeters and hydrometers
- Connect sensing leads to batteries and portable battery plants as required
- Communicate with customers regarding required equipment connections
- Connect and configure load banks for battery testing
- Apply temperature correction factors and program test equipment accordingly
- Initiate and monitor capacity tests, maintaining load until terminal voltage reaches specified end levels
- Assist customer personnel with charger current limit and output voltage adjustments
- Verify voltage, polarity, and continuity using calibrated digital multimeters
- Protect cables from pinch points, sharp edges, and short circuits
- Safely operate a 20’ straight box truck
- Demonstrate understanding of battery capacity testing theory
- Properly use multimeters, amp clamps, and required PPE
- Understand parallel and series circuits and follow established testing procedures
- Complete required documentation accurately and timely
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- 2+ years of technical training and hands-on experience in an electronic or electrical role
- Military electronics experience (U.S. Navy or Air Force preferred)
- Knowledge and hands-on use of:
- Oscilloscopes
- Multimeters
- Hydrometers
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently and interact professionally with customers
Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- Experience supporting UPS, turbine, or telecom systems
- Background in critical power, battery systems, or standby power environments
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of pre-employment assessment, background check, physical, and DOT drug screen (hair follicle)
- Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record
- Ability to operate company vehicles safely and legally
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
