Description
As a Senior Critical Facilities Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of mission-critical data center facilities and associated infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring operational reliability, managing facility teams and third-party providers, and delivering an exceptional experience for customers utilizing the facility.
This position plays a key role in maintaining operational standards, leading incident response, managing infrastructure capacity, and ensuring successful implementation of customer deployments and facility projects.
What You'll Do
Facility Operations
- Oversee daily operations of critical facilities through coordination with on-site engineering teams.
- Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs across regional facilities.
- Provide operational leadership and guidance during incidents and technical issues.
- Maintain and enforce operational policies, procedures, and facility standards.
Vendor & Team Management
- Manage relationships with third-party facility management providers.
- Coordinate staff performance reviews, scheduling, development, and training needs.
- Oversee vendors performing work within the data center environment.
Asset & Capacity Management
- Maintain asset tracking processes and reporting systems.
- Monitor facility capacity thresholds and maintain forecasting for future infrastructure requirements.
- Provide reporting on asset utilization for both internal stakeholders and customers.
Incident Management
- Lead incident management processes from initial response through resolution and root cause analysis documentation.
- Ensure proper communication and documentation throughout incident response activities.
Customer & Project Support
- Serve as a key point of contact for local customer teams and operational issues.
- Coordinate implementation activities for customer orders, infrastructure builds, and facility modifications.
- Support sales teams by providing facility tours and technical insights for potential new customers.
- Review customer contracts and support customer audits when required.
Reporting & Compliance
- Manage required internal and external operational reporting.
- Coordinate with internal teams including finance, compliance, safety, and security for monthly reporting requirements.
- Maintain documentation for certifications, regulatory requirements, and operational audits.
- Support business continuity planning and operational readiness initiatives.
Financial Management
- Manage operational expenditures (OPEX) for assigned facilities.
- Develop capital expenditure (CAPEX) plans for equipment maintenance, upgrades, and replacement.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- 7+ years of experience managing critical infrastructure operations, preferably in a data center or mission-critical environment.
- 10+ years of supervisory or personnel management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of facility operations, maintenance programs, and operational reliability.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience developing procedures and training technical teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Position located in Ashburn, Virginia.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- May require extended hours or on-site support during emergency situations.
- Ability to work in high-availability, mission-critical facility environments.
