Job Summary
The Brake Press Operator is responsible for retrieving and setting tooling, programming and operating the machine, and using blueprint specifications to produce accurate test parts. This role inspects parts, makes necessary adjustments, green-tags approved parts, and verifies product quality using appropriate inspection and measuring equipment.
Job Responsibilities
- Turns setscrews or bolts to fasten clamp bar that holds dies in position.
- Writes part programs and stores in machine.
- Lays out or details layout on work stock from blueprints.
- Positions work piece manually or with crane.
- Starts machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends or cuts metal.
- Verifies dimensions of work piece and make adjustments if necessary.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Skills Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and part specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make machine adjustments to meet part requirements.
- Knowledge of brake press tooling, machine setup, and basic programming functions.
- Proficiency in using measuring and inspection equipment to verify part quality and dimensional accuracy.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
