Description


The Field Service Engineer I is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and testing specialized medical equipment at hospitals, laboratories, and healthcare facilities throughout an assigned territory. This field-based position performs preventive maintenance, equipment upgrades, recalls, field modifications, software and firmware updates, warranty repairs, and performance verification to manufacturer specifications.
The Field Service Engineer will work independently at customer locations, use diagnostic equipment and hand tools to resolve technical issues, document service activities, and provide professional technical support to healthcare personnel. This opportunity is well suited for technicians with field service, biomedical, electronics, industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, manufacturing, or military technical backgrounds who are interested in developing a career in healthcare technology.


Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2–4 years of field service, industrial maintenance, electronics, mechanical repair, biomedical equipment, military technical, or similar technical experience; OR an associate degree or technical certification with at least 1 year of hands-on technical experience, including qualifying internships or apprenticeships
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitude
  • Hands-on technical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair skills
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain specialized technical equipment
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance activities
  • Ability to perform equipment calibration, testing, and performance verification to manufacturer specifications
  • Ability to complete equipment modifications, upgrades, recalls, and warranty repairs
  • Ability to safely use diagnostic equipment and hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service documentation, manufacturer procedures, and equipment instructions
  • Ability to accurately document service work, repairs, parts usage, and customer interactions
  • Strong customer-service and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage assigned service calls and work independently
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with dispatch and technical support teams
  • Ability to follow established quality, safety, and documentation standards

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to operate personal or rental vehicles
  • Proof of automobile liability insurance
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 100% throughout the assigned territory
  • Ability to travel primarily Monday–Friday with occasional weekend travel
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical field-service work
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
