Automation Technician III

Description

A leading company in regulated manufacturing and advanced automation is seeking an experienced Automation Technician to support automated assembly operations. Basic Job Functions

• Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on automated assembly and production equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, robotic, and control-system issues.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, servo drives, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, sensors, and other industrial automation equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, failure analysis, equipment inspections, and corrective repairs.
• Support equipment installations, relocations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to maintain manufacturing continuity.
• Document equipment malfunctions, repairs, maintenance activities, and parts usage in ERP and maintenance systems.
• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate equipment issues, production concerns, and ongoing repairs.
• Maintain equipment and work areas in accordance with cGMP, 5S, safety, and quality standards.
• Safety and quality are top priorities; candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to safely troubleshoot and maintain complex automated equipment.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:

• High School Diploma or GED with a technical certificate or equivalent technical training.
• 4+ years of experience supporting automated assembly or production equipment.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Strong troubleshooting experience with industrial automation and controls.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with engineering, quality, and production teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, robotics, and vision systems.
• Experience with hydraulic systems, VFDs, motors, sensors, and industrial controls.
• Experience in GMP, cGMP, cleanroom, medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP/CMMS systems.
• Experience supporting automated assembly, robotic manufacturing, or high-speed production equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or continuous improvement initiatives.
