Description
Orion Talent, the nation’s largest military recruiting firm, is currently recruiting transitioning or former military professionals for an Electrical Maintenance Technician position with a producer of rebar and related products for the construction industry.
Position Details
Location: Birmingham, AL
Compensation: $28 - $36/hr plus OT. Bi-yearly profit share bonus. $3 shift differential for weekend shifts. Relocation available based on experience and location.
Shift:
• Starts on Day Shift 10 hr shift, 4 days a week 6:30AM – 4:30PM (Mon-Thurs, Tues – Fri, Wed – Sat, Thurs – Sun options) plus avail OT. $3 shift differential for any weekend shift.
• Moves to 12/hr rotating shift (2 on day – 2 off, 3 on night – 2 off, 2 on day – 3 off – 2 on night – 2 off – 3 on day) 3-day weekend every other weekend.

Position Description
As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will work with a strong team to maintain steel production in a steel mill processing plant in Birmingham, AL. You will troubleshoot AC/DC motor controls, PLCs, electrical drives, and all high voltage systems, keeping them all up to the site voltage maximums. You will inspect and perform daily maintenance on all shop machinery, mobile equipment, HVAC Systems, PLC networks, and cranes.
Position Requirements
• Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience or military training.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with using a multimeter to check AC/DC voltage and resistance.
• Experience troubleshooting AC Drives.
• Knowledge of the components of a motor starter.
• Experience with electrical schematics and diagrams like ladder logic.
• PLC troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Experience with overhead cranes. (on tracks) preferred.
• Experience with HMIs (Human Machine Interface) preferred.
• Experience with Hydraulic prop valves preferred.
