Description
Safety is a core value and a critical component of every successful project. The Field Safety Manager plays a key role in maintaining safe job sites by actively preventing accidents, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety across construction operations.
This role partners closely with General Contractors, project leadership, and field crews to achieve Zero Incident worksites, primarily supporting large industrial construction projects and select service sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee field operations and conduct routine job-site safety audits
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and customer safety requirements
- Stay current on changes to safety and health regulations and legal standards
- Conduct new-hire safety orientations and onboarding training
- Ensure Foremen and supervisors enforce safety policies consistently
- Lead accident investigations and implement corrective actions
- Maintain records of safety incidents, near misses, and preventive measures
- Organize and deliver safety training programs including:
- Forklift & aerial lift safety
- Fall protection
- Trenching & excavation
- Confined space entry
- Collaborate with project managers to identify and resolve safety risks
- Intervene immediately in unsafe activities or conditions
- Coordinate directly with customers to resolve site-specific safety issues
- Develop site-specific safety manuals, fall protection plans, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Attend monthly safety committee meetings
- Ensure job sites conduct weekly safety meetings and document participation
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- Construction safety leadership experience, preferably in industrial or mechanical construction environments
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
- Proven ability to lead safety programs in the field
- Experience conducting safety audits, training, and accident investigations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to confidently intervene and enforce safety compliance
Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- Background with mechanical contractors (HVAC, plumbing, sheet metal)
- Experience supporting large industrial construction projects
- Safety certifications (OSHA 30, CHST, CSP, etc.)
