Description
The Field Service Specialist provides technical advisory and hands-on support for customer equipment and systems at a designated mill site. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing analyzer and control systems while serving as a key liaison between the customer and service organization.
The position is primarily based at a single customer site in Ticonderoga, NY, supporting operations within a pulp and paper mill environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, process control knowledge, and the ability to work independently while supporting customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, proactive, and corrective maintenance on equipment and systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
- Conduct calibration checks and system validations
- Perform system backups and maintain accurate records of system changes
- Provide training and technical guidance to mill employees
- Utilize remote connectivity tools to diagnose and troubleshoot system issues
- Maintain detailed service documentation and reporting
- Manage spare parts inventory at the site
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with customer personnel
- Provide on-call and emergency support as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- Associate degree or military background in an electro-mechanical field
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electricity, electronics, and computer systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer/networking systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to support on-call and after-hours service requirements
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
- Experience in pulp and paper industry
- Background with Analyzer systems, QCS (Quality Control Systems), MV (Machine Vision), DCS (Distributed Control Systems), or Process Controls
- Experience with field service or customer-facing technical roles
