Description

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting accounting and finance functions within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports cost accounting activities, and maintains compliance with company policies and procedures.
This position works closely with operations, supply chain, and leadership teams to provide financial analysis and insights that support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist with cost accounting activities including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
  • Reconcile inventory balances and investigate discrepancies across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
  • Collaborate with operations to monitor production costs, labor efficiency, and overhead allocation
  • Analyze manufacturing expenses and provide reporting to support operational improvements
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and support process improvement initiatives
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed
  • Communicate with internal teams and leadership as required

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience (manufacturing or cost accounting preferred)
  • Understanding of GAAP and standard accounting principles
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Accumatica, or similar)
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Cost accounting experience
  • Exposure to inventory accounting and variance analysis
  • Experience supporting audits
