Description
The Field Service Technician is responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, servicing, and maintaining Jenbacher gas engines operating in industrial power generation and gas compression applications. These engines range from 0.25 MW to 9.5 MW and operate on natural gas as well as alternative gases such as biogas, landfill gas, sewage gas, coal mine gas, and industrial waste gases.
This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities, hands-on maintenance experience, and the ability to work independently at customer sites supporting critical energy systems.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
• 4+ years of electromechanical maintenance experience
• Military technical experience highly desired
• 4 years of reciprocating engine experience preferred
• Mechanical Technician experience or higher
• Electrical Technician experience or higher
• Strong troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, electrical, and software systems
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation after training
• Must live in or be willing to relocate to West Texas
• Ability to work independently and as part of a field service team

Requirements
• Perform commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on Jenbacher gas engines
• Execute preventive maintenance tasks including oil checks, filter replacement, valve replacement, and measurements
• Perform minor repairs and support major engine service activities with team members
• Coordinate work activities with external suppliers and contractors
• Monitor maintenance activities for compliance with EHS protocols
• Troubleshoot engine systems involving electronics, mechanics, and software controls
• Review historical engine data and diagnose failures
• Create detailed service reports documenting work performed, materials used, labor hours, and follow-up actions
• Report recurring faults and identify root causes
• Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure clean, organized service vehicles and work areas
• Complete timesheets, expense reports, EHS documentation, and job reports accurately and on time
• Follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedures
