Machinist

The Machinist is responsible for fabricating precision parts using both manual and CNC machining techniques. This role plays a key part in the production process, requiring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work from blueprints and specifications to produce high-quality components.

The position involves machine setup and operation, quality control, troubleshooting, and collaboration with engineering and production teams to ensure efficient and accurate manufacturing.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5–7 years of machining experience strongly preferred
• Proven experience with CNC and manual machining processes
• Ability to set up and operate lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders
• Strong understanding of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and dial bores
• Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and machining accessories
• Strong math skills including geometry
• Knowledge of metal properties and machinability
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Requirements

• Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
• Select appropriate tools, materials, and machining methods
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed
• Perform routine maintenance on machines
• Inspect finished parts to ensure quality standards and tolerances are met
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members on project requirements
• Troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime
• Maintain accurate production and process documentation
• Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment
