Description
Hiring Port Captains to lead and coordinate vessel operations, crew performance, safety/compliance, and day-to-day operational execution in key West Coast markets. These are visible, high-impact maritime leadership roles with direct influence on crews, customers, and regional performance.
Locations: El Segundo, Long Beach, CA and Honolulu, HI
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading deck officers, deckhands, and marine personnel
- Driving safe, efficient tug/barge operations
- Managing crewing, training, scheduling, and performance
- Working directly with customers, vendors, pilots, and regulators
- Overseeing compliance with USCG, ABS, OSHA, EPA, and company standards
- Supporting budgets, labor relations, and operational planning
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Strong maritime operational leadership background
- Experience as a tugboat captain and/or shoreside marine operations leader
- Comfort managing union / labor dynamics
- Strong communication and customer-facing presence
- Valid TWIC required
- USCG Masters or Mates license preferred / important
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but equivalent experience may work
- Ability and willingness to work onsite, not hybrid
