Description

We are seeking two highly skilled, hands-on Heavy Equipment Mechanics to support its surface mining operation in Simi Valley, California.

This position is designed for experienced technicians with advanced diagnostic and repair capabilities on heavy construction, mining, engineering, and earthmoving equipment. This is not a fleet-management or primarily supervisory position. The company needs technicians who are comfortable working directly on equipment, troubleshooting complex failures, performing major component replacements, and maintaining equipment reliability in a demanding operating environment.

The maintenance team supports approximately 32 pieces of mobile equipment, including large wheel loaders, dozers, haul trucks, water trucks, service trucks, and other heavy support equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy mobile mining and earthmoving equipment.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance on diesel engines and powertrains.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose electrical and electronic equipment failures.
  • Repair powertrain and driveline components.
  • Perform major component replacements and equipment repairs.
  • Use electronic diagnostic platforms such as CAT ET, John Deere Service Advisor, Jaltest, or comparable systems.
  • Perform field troubleshooting and repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance requirements across a fleet of approximately 32 mobile assets.
  • Work directly on large wheel loaders, dozers, haul trucks, water trucks, service trucks, and other heavy support equipment.
  • Contribute directly to fleet availability, reliability, and overall mining operations.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • Significant hands-on heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience.
  • Strong diesel engine and powertrain troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Strong hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Strong electrical diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience repairing powertrain and driveline components.
  • Ability to diagnose complex equipment failures rather than simply replace parts.
  • Experience performing major component repairs and replacements.
  • Experience with heavy construction, mining, engineering, or earthmoving equipment.
  • Comfortable working in the field and remaining personally involved in equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Experience using electronic diagnostic tools or software.
  • Strong preference for candidates who have worked directly on equipment such as:
    • Dozers
    • Wheel loaders
    • Excavators
    • Haul trucks
    • Graders
    • Cranes
    • Heavy construction/engineer equipment

Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience

  • Surface mining or quarry maintenance experience.
  • Experience with CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi, Liebherr, or similar heavy-equipment platforms.
  • CAT ET experience.
  • John Deere Service Advisor experience.
  • Jaltest diagnostic experience.
  • Experience supporting fleet uptime and equipment reliability in high-production environments.
  • Military heavy-equipment maintenance background.
