Description

A leading advanced manufacturing facility is seeking an Instrumentation Associate / Controls Technician to support process control systems and automation across production operations. This role is focused on PLC troubleshooting, controls support, and instrumentation maintenance in a high-performance industrial environment.

This is a highly technical, hands-on position supporting complex systems, with strong collaboration between Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems
  • Perform PLC program edits, resets, and installations, including ladder logic troubleshooting
  • Support and maintain Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC systems
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and vacuum systems
  • Assist maintenance teams in resolving complex process and control issues
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation
  • Coordinate and implement software and firmware updates in line with configuration control procedures
  • Develop and document standard procedures (TES) for instrumentation and controls systems
  • Support calibration and minor repairs of instrumentation and inspection equipment
  • Act as a liaison between Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering
  • Provide training and technical guidance to maintenance personnel
  • Respond to equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure production continuity

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or equivalent military training preferred
  • Strong PLC troubleshooting experience required, including:
    • Ladder logic
    • Program editing and uploads/downloads
    • System resets and fault recovery
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Industrial electrical systems
    • Process controls and instrumentation
    • Hydraulic, pneumatic, and vacuum systems
  • Ability to read and work from complex schematics and technical drawings
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production environment
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, high-responsibility role

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting pay: $30.76/hour
  • Overtime (1.5x after 8 hours) – built into 12-hour schedule
  • $2/hour shift differential (nights)
  • Annual earnings: $82K+ minimum expected
