Manufacturing Process Engineer
Location: Manchester, CT - Onsite

About the Role
LM Gill is a Naval Defense manufacturer supporting Department of Defense programs. The company is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to support production through strong process engineering, documentation control, and hands-on problem solving. This role works closely with programming, planning, quality, and production teams to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and safe manufacturing operations.
What You'll Do
- Interpret customer requirements and develop manufacturing plans, partnering with programming and planning teams.
- Create and maintain revision-controlled engineering documentation to support manufacturing processes.
- Create and edit manufacturing traveler and routing sheets.
- Use SolidWorks to support manufacturing activities.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing problems, coordinating with internal departments, outside vendors, and customers to return processes to plan quickly and cost effectively.
- Assist with internal quality audits as needed.
- Support process improvement efforts across the shop
Must-Have Skills and Experience
(These are required for consideration.)
- U.S. citizenship (ITAR requirement).
- Experience interpreting customer requirements and translating them into manufacturing plans.
- Ability to create and maintain revision-controlled engineering documentation.
- Ability to create and update traveler and routing sheets.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of machining processes and equipment.
- Experience machining weldments, forgings, and castings.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
- Experience using ERP systems for engineering and manufacturing (for example Epicor).
- Experience supporting manufacturing troubleshooting with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with ISO or AS quality systems.
- Familiarity with NDT methods, including VT, LP, RT, UT.
Nice-to-Have Skills
(These are preferred but not required.)
- Prior experience in defense or shipbuilding manufacturing environments.
- Experience assisting with internal quality audits.
- Background in process improvement or cost reduction initiatives.
- Exposure to working with outside vendors and customer engineering teams.
- Understanding of manufacturing support roles such as programming and planning.
- Ability to support documentation creation beyond standard routing and traveler sheets (work instructions, process documents).

Additional Details
- Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7AM – 330PM
- Salary Range: $80,000 – $110,000 base
- Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO.
