Description
The Equipment & Controls Technician (E&C Technician) is responsible for maintaining and supporting electrical, instrumentation, and control systems at a natural gas compressor station and related facilities. This role ensures the reliable operation of power distribution systems, automation equipment, and mechanical infrastructure supporting pipeline and compression operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for Industrial Electricians, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technicians, Controls Technicians, Instrument Technicians, or Electrical Technicians with experience in industrial or energy environments.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- Associate’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent technical training or work experience
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, and oscilloscopes
- Understanding of process control systems and gas processing fundamentals
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams, and technical drawings
- Experience preparing or modifying electrical circuit drawings
- Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and operational procedures
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Requirements
- Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment used in compressor stations, pipelines, terminals, pump stations, and measurement facilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical power distribution systems, switchgear, and control systems
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspection checks on compressors, pumps, drivers, and auxiliary equipment
- Conduct inspection and maintenance (I&M) checks on instrumentation and control systems
- Diagnose issues using electronic testing equipment and perform necessary repairs
- Perform analytical testing on engines, compressors, and pumps and implement improvements based on findings
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair security and intrusion detection systems
- Assist engineering and corrosion teams with facility grounding systems
- Oversee contractors and third-party service providers performing construction or maintenance work
- Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and operational documentation
- Identify and address safety and environmental concerns while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations
- Support operational excellence initiatives and mentor junior technicians when appropriate
- Assist with general facility maintenance as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- 5+ years of experience maintaining compressor stations, treating plants, or similar industrial facilities
- Experience working with high-pressure gas systems, pumps, compressors, and gas turbine or reciprocating engines
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, motors, and automation systems
- Knowledge of Wonderware or other SCADA software
- Experience working with flammable gases and high-pressure pipeline systems
