Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain plant systems including: condensate, feedwater, steam, combustion air, draft air, turbine lube and seal oil, circulating water, hydrogen cooling, air preheaters, boiler chemistry, flue gas, fuel flow, and wastewater treatment.
  • Adhere to all safety programs and protocols: PPE, fire and accident procedures, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), confined space, fall protection, hot work permits, and switching/tagging.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Title V Air Permit and SPDES environmental requirements.
  • Perform LOTO tagging and serve as LOTO Mark-up Party and Tagging Authority.
  • Operate control boards within one year of hire.
  • Participate in mandatory overtime and on-call duties; work rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Complete online training modules through GPI-Learn.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational degree, military service, or equivalent preferred.
  • 2–4 years of related experience in power plant operations, mechanical work, or millwright/maintenance roles preferred.
  • Must pass DOT drug test and pre-screening physical; subject to DOT random drug testing.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and write safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient with email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Exposure to outdoor weather, moving machinery, toxic/caustic chemicals, extreme heat, electrical hazards, high/vibrating locations, and loud noise (hearing protection required).
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, and balance for extended periods.
  • Use hands and arms for operations; talk, hear, taste, or smell as needed.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
