Description


We are seeking a Telecommunications Technician II to support the reliability and performance of critical communication systems. This role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunications infrastructure including microwave, radio, satellite, and network systems.


The Telecommunications Technician II plays a key role in ensuring continuous, safe, and reliable communications across operations. This is a hands-on, field-based position requiring strong technical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to safety and compliance.

Multiple Locations Available: South Plainfield, NJ, Brewster, NY, Hanover, NJ, Lambertville, NJ, Stony Point, NY

Monitor, test, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems including microwave, radio, satellite, and network systems

  • Inspect and maintain infrastructure such as towers, antennas, transmission lines, and supporting systems (power, HVAC, generators)
  • Identify and resolve communication system issues and abnormal conditions
  • Install, configure, and support routers, network connectivity, and end-user communication equipment
  • Perform routine testing and ensure compliance with technical manuals and regulatory requirements
  • Complete accurate reports, documentation, and maintenance records
  • Assist with troubleshooting and support of desktop, IT, and peripheral devices
  • Collaborate with team members and provide guidance to junior technicians or contractors
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety policies and procedures

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant telecommunications, electrical, or technical experience
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Ability to reside within 30 miles of assigned work location
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and drawings
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with standard office applications
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently in field environments
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, on-call, and travel as required
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Fiber Optics, T1)
  • Experience with RF systems, radio equipment, and antenna systems
  • FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License
  • Experience maintaining and repairing communication equipment
  • Military background in communications, electronics, or signal systems
  • Experience with network infrastructure and connectivity
