Description
The Medium Voltage Specialist is responsible for warranty repairs, technical support, commissioning, and testing of medium voltage products. This is a field-based, remote role supporting customer sites primarily across the Central and Eastern United States.
The role involves hands-on field service, remote troubleshooting, and close collaboration with internal service, quality, and supplier teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of medium and high-voltage equipment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely commission, troubleshoot, repair, and analyze medium voltage transformers and components via on-site visits and remote support
- Develop strong product knowledge of SMA and third-party medium voltage transformer systems and accessories
- Work regularly with high-voltage DC, three-phase power, high AC voltage, and associated firmware/software
- Maintain accurate spare parts inventory and documentation
- Collaborate with Global Service, Quality, and Supplier teams to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on failures
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding RCA findings, timelines, and resolutions
- Perform maintenance activities in accordance with product manuals and contractual service obligations
- Maintain high customer satisfaction while controlling service costs
- Work nights and weekends as required by customer site needs
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- Minimum 5 years of field experience working on high-voltage systems or components as an electrician, journeyman, or engineer
- Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, or network communications systems
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working directly with high-voltage equipment
- Strong safety mindset and ability to work independently in the field
- Excellent customer communication and documentation skills
Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- Experience with pad-mounted transformers, terminations, and switchgear operation
- Prior experience in the solar energy or renewable power industry
- Medium or high-voltage commissioning experience
