Description

The Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance activities to ensure reliable operation of production and facility equipment. This role involves troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement projects within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production and facility equipment; verify and test all repairs for quality and accuracy
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance throughout the facility
  • Utilize CMMS to document work orders, preventive maintenance, call logs, shift reports, parts usage, labor, and status updates
  • Proactively identify equipment issues and improvement opportunities
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Accurately maintain maintenance records and documentation in a timely manner
  • Use electronic tools and systems including PC, email, phone, and CMMS software
  • Work independently or collaboratively while remaining productive throughout the shift
  • Maintain strong communication and working relationships across departments
  • Follow all safety, environmental, GMP, and PPE requirements
  • Support facility improvement projects as assigned

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing experience preferred)
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills
  • Experience with PLCs and VFDs
  • Ability to troubleshoot using logic, reasoning, and analytical thinking
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to attendance
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver's license

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with temperatures ranging from -10°F to above-normal heat
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally above shoulder height
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and occasional sitting
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in confined or awkward spaces
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and visual acuity to inspect machinery
  • Ability to work safely around powered equipment, flashing lights, and industrial noise
  • Welding experience preferred (MIG – Steel, TIG – Steel/Aluminum)
  • Ability to safely maintain x-ray and metal detection equipment
  • Comfortable working in high-voltage areas while following all safety protocols
  • Flexibility to work weekends or off-hours as needed
