About the Role

LM Gill Welding & Manufacturing is a 55+ year defense supplier supporting the Department of Defense and shipbuilding industry. Due to projected growth, we are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to support dimensional inspection, documentation review, and compliance in an AS9100D and ISO9001:2015 environment.

This role is responsible for ensuring machined and welded components meet strict blueprint, PO, and specification requirements, including close tolerance inspection.

What You'll Do

  • Perform dimensional inspection of machined and welded parts, including tolerances as tight as plus or minus 0.0005 inch
  • Set up and operate inspection tools and gauges, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, depth gauges, and dial bore gauges
  • Interpret complex blueprints, GD and T requirements, and shipbuilding specifications
  • Review purchase orders, material certifications, and specifications to ensure compliance
  • Record and document inspection results accurately
  • Support AS9100D and ISO9001:2015 quality system requirements
  • Assist with calibration procedures and ensure measurement tools remain compliant
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and planning to resolve quality issues
  • Cross-train and support multiple inspection functions as workflow demands
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements
  • Maintain organization and traceability of inspection documentation

Must-Have Skills and Experience

(These are required for consideration.)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in defense manufacturing or similar regulated industry
  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including GD&T interpretation
  • Experience inspecting precision machined and welded components
  • Familiarity with PO and specification interpretation
  • Experience reviewing material certifications
  • Working knowledge of AS9100D and ISO9001 quality systems
  • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Nice-to-Have Skills

(These are preferred but not required.)

  • Experience programming or operating CMM equipment
  • Experience with Aberlink, Faro Arm, or similar CMM systems
  • Experience in shipbuilding or naval defense manufacturing

Additional Details

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Salary Range: $23-25/hour
  • Travel: None anticipated
  • Certifications: None required, CMM training or relevant inspection certifications preferred
